Week 3: True Grit: Charles Portis
For this weeks book read, I thought this novel was definitely an adventure. It was interesting to see the American mythology in this novel and how numerous things how changed over the years. From the first bit of the story hearing Maddie's back story, really getting to know her throughout the story kept that engaging factor. Getting to know Maddie as well as the other main characters was very nice because I know readers can for sure relate to these characters, which I think the author did an amazing job in doing. For example, I loved Maddie's pure, driven, adventurous personalty traits. In reading this novel readers can definitely enjoy and feel as if they are going on this journey with Maddie and other characters. Also, as the story goes on, it is very nice to see how the character learn and grow on the way. Seeing how Maddie and Reuben interact and relate to one another personality was very interesting.Learning from each others character and experiences is a good take away from this novel we can all learn from in a positive way. Overall, this novel was a great, adventurous read.
