Week 5: Cosmopolis by Don DeLilo

In reading the novel Cosmopolis I definitely wasn't engaged or interested as with a novel such as True Grit. While I do think through learning about the main character Eric and how he chooses to live his life, shows us how going after the pleasures of this life, (chasing after the wind) only leads to more emptiness and an unfulfilled lifestyle. Which is a very important topic think on. I do think many people including myself, can relate to Eric, the main character. I think we can choose to learn from this topic to fight against our fleshly nature to chase after meaningless things in life, knowing that it only leads to destruction. It's then where we can find peace.

Week 4: The Secret History of Wonder Woman by Jill LePore

My first impressions of wonder woman were of a brave woman, fighting for woman's rights. Which I think many females can relate to and become inspired by. Learning about the creator of wonder woman, William Moulton Marston, I wouldn't say I'd be as interested in his comics. With understanding the facts of how this character came to be though his life, is definitely not the way I think a character or story should be made.

Week 3: True Grit: Charles Portis

For this weeks book read, I thought this novel was definitely an adventure. It was interesting to see the American mythology in this novel and how numerous things how changed over the years. From the first bit of the story hearing Maddie's back story, really getting to know her throughout the story kept that engaging factor. Getting to know Maddie as well as the other main characters was very nice because I know readers can for sure relate to these characters, which I think the author did an amazing job in doing. For example, I loved Maddie's pure, driven, adventurous personalty traits. In reading this novel readers can definitely enjoy and feel as if they are going on this journey with Maddie and other characters. Also, as the story goes on, it is very nice to see how the character learn and grow on the way. Seeing how Maddie and Reuben interact and relate to one another personality was very interesting.Learning from each others character and experiences is a good take away fr...

Week 2: Pride and Prejudice, the novel written by Jane Austen

The novel Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen was a very interesting, fun read. In connection to the novel and film I found it very nice to see how everything came to life. What I think really highlights this novel is the characters. It is interesting to see how certain characters react and in getting to know them more. Such as the two main characters, Darcy and Elizabeth. It was nice to see how through all their struggles in the end they were able to come back in relationship. What I found also engaging is getting to know how marriages and relationships were like in this day in age.
